Fabulous converted paper factory lovingly restored – from sourcing old bricks to replicating original wallpapers. Restaurant is light and minimalist. Next door is the ‘warehouse’, now a modern space for art, meetings and conferences. Riverside location with simply prepared delicious food.
Cafe Miro, Kristianstad Museum
The place to eat in Kristianstad. On the grand ‘torg’ or city square sits the museum with lovely gift shop, books and art. Cafe Milo is organic, fair trade, ethical and seasonal. Laid back cafe very popular with locals and tourists alike. Lunch buffet is brimming and inventive.
Fahlmans, Helsingborg
An institution in Helsingborg. Classic bakery and café in historic corner building in the heart of Gamla Stan. There is seating indoors and out. A fantastic array of delicious home mades cakes and wonderful seasonal window displays to tempt you. Skånsk spettkaka on sale – it has PGI status under EU law – open sandwiches of seafood, mini quiches and a plentiful supply of coffee. Celebrating a century here and retaining many original features it is a must to visit.
Krapperup Manor, Mölle
One of Sweden’s oldest manors dating back to 13th Century with a lovely café, shop and gallery. There is a lovely selection of home baked cakes and pastries, light lunches too.
Trivas på Råå
Fine dining in charming historic building in the beautiful coastal village of Råå on the outskirts of Helsingborg, easily accessed by regular bus service. Beautifully designed interior makes this fabulous venue a must to enjoy finest Skånsk produce with classic and innovative dishes.
Bialitt Kaffestuga, Svalöv
Charming Kaffestuga (coffee cottage) is an absolute institution in Skåne. Swedish TV used it 50years ago for a long-running series, interviewing folk over a coffee in ‘Kaffestuga Bialitt.’ They still serve waffles, cakes, sandwiches and ice creams, all homemade, in a series of ‘living rooms’ within the old cottage walls. There are wood burning stoves, old kitchen equipment adorning the walls and real heritage wherever you look. There is a giant model of a white goose (their trademark) outside in case you need a guide! .
Torekov Fiskhuset
Harbourside fish shop full of surprises! Regulars come for great seafood but also for their lunch! He runs a café in the lovely seaside village of Torekov cooking an excellent fresh fish platter of the day alongside a variety of seasonal light seafood dishes

This wonderful artisan bakery has a tasty range of rustic sourdough breads and a lovely cafe. They embrace Slow Food philosophy and use all natural ingredients. We met up whilst in Turino a Slow Food’s Terra Madre.
Bäckdalens Handelsträgård and Café Orangeriet, Bjäre-peninsula
Shop for herbs, plants and gifts as well as their beautiful cafe in the old farm buildings, lovingly restored by Anders and Margaretha. ‘Serving home made produce – cakes and salads, open sandwiches and light dishes. The crockery is a wonderfully retro mix and the restored furniture complete the delightful atmosphere and ambience.
Rusthållargården, Arild
This picturesque fishing village dating from 1675. The Kullaberg peninsula is a place of great beauty and the views from the dining room are stunning across Skälderviken. Menu is predominantly organic with local produce imaginatively used. Here is Trout from Tjärö served with Languistine Dumplings in a dainty copper pan of stock, with turnip ribbons and pak choy. Desserts include rhubarb, with fennel meringue and soured cream ice, garnished with wafer thin dried rhubarb.
